Calmore Sports Club first XI captain Mark Lavelle has finalised the pre-season programme for the 2017 season, including indoor net sessions that kick-off at the end of February. Here is the full list ……
“I firmly believe that in 2017 we have an exciting opportunity to really strive forward as a club. The 1st XI had excellent success last season in winning the title and I am delighted to be carrying on leading the 1st XI & the club next year on the playing front. The 1st XI really instilled a winning mentality last season and this is something we need to grasp hold of as a collective, as with any sport or competition it feels a lot better afterwards if you are celebrating a win.
“This year we have the addition of two new captains for the 2nd & 3rd XI in Tom Perry and Sam Vidler who will both bring fresh ideas to their respective sides and understand the direction in which we want to move in. For me having Tom and Sam as fellow captains really highlights what we are about as a club, with both coming of them coming through our colts section alongside myself around the same time. This is something we need to continue to do in a time when participation in cricket overall is decreasing, we need to really show what makes Calmore the special club it is, and I believe we can all be great advocates of that from the playing side of things through our dedication and commitment to both training and match days. There is a great deal of talent throughout the ranks at this club, it is now time for that talent to shine and hopefully this will be reflected in what we can achieve during the 2017 season.
“Below is the outline for our winter training schedule, we have moved to a Tuesday evening at the fantastic facility at Hampshire Collegiate School from 18:15 to 20:00 with prices of £3 an adult and £1 a colt per session. This is a six-week block of indoor training before we venture outdoors where in April we will train on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s ensuring we maximize our training opportunities before day one of the season for all four teams so we can hit the ground running. We have some challenging but ultimately rewarding friendlies already set in stone and will look to add to these to ensure all four teams have competitive opportunities before the season starts.
“Any questions or problems please do not hesitate to contact me and I will do the best I can to help. We are always welcoming new or returning faces to the fold at Calmore and if you are interested please get in contact for a chat. Here is to another season where nothing is impossible if we are all pulling together #FTM.”
