Calmore Sports Club 1st XI captain Mark Lavelle was in double celebrationary mood on Saturday as, alongside his side kicking off their SPCL Division 2 campaign with a victory but he also became the 10th player to play in 100 Southern League matches for the club.

Mark made his debut as a 14-year-old away at Rowledge in Division 2 on 16th July 2005, batting at number 11 and not bowling in the 8-wicket defeat.  Playing alongside him on that day were James Rose (who kept wicket) and Paul Proudley and they were on the field with him on Saturday for his 100th.

He is also one of just six players in Calmore Sports SPCL history to score over 1,000 runs and take 100 wickets in the competition’s history.

Mark received a special momento prior to the opening game of the season at home to Fawley to mark the occasion – receiving it from his father and Club Chairman Pete Lavelle.

Calmore Sports Club congratulate Mark on his achievement.
